Welcome back to Term 2! We have some exciting events this term including Eisteddfod, BPS Cross Country, State Athletics, North-West Cross Country, Reports and Parent-Teacher Conversations. I’m sure there will be more as the term progresses so please keep up to date with our school calendar.
Burnie Writing Collective
Teaching staff recently participated in an after school Professional Learning with the collective of schools at Somerset Primary to further our knowledge of Writing Conferences. This followed on from Moderation Day last term where we collectively assessed students writing. Our teachers are always looking for ways to improve teaching practices and student outcomes and we are excited to implement Writing Conferences into literacy blocks this term, with the support and expertise of Mrs Liz Fidler, Literacy Coach.
Mid-Year Reports
The major reports and Parent/ Teacher Conversations are occurring later this term. Teachers may contact some families prior to the reports coming home, conversely if you have any questions or concerns it is important you contact your child’s teacher as early as possible so that your child’s needs can be addressed.
NAPLAN
Our Year 3 and 5 students will be participating in NAPLAN from May 10 -13. An information sheet was sent home this week with information about NAPLAN. If you would like more information or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
P&F Meeting
This meeting is on Tuesday, May 4 from 4.30pm - 6.00pm just prior to the School Association meeting.
School Association
Following from the P&F meeting will be the School Association meeting from 6.00pm -7.00pm. If you wish to attend or become a member of our School Association, please contact Mrs Cheryl King, BPS School Business Manager.
Disabled Parking
The disabled parking spots are for people with permits. Please only park there if you are a permit holder. We appreciate your co-operation.
Breakfast Club
We are in the process of organising a Breakfast Club for BPS. We know that Breakfast Clubs are great for busy families and for students socialising before school, as well as a healthy start to the day! We would like to thank Emma and Gregory Baker for their on-going donation of bread to the Breakfast Club. We are looking for regular donations of milk, spreads, and cereals. If you or a community member can regularly donate, please contact Mrs Rochelle Cunningham. We are aiming to start the Breakfast Club at the beginning of Term 3, so watch this space!
