We have been learning about forces in Kinder, investigating what happens when we use the ‘pull’ force; things move closer to us and when we use the ‘push’ force things move away from us.  We have been noticing how our bodies move; backward, forward, zig zag and side to side. We have drawn how things and people move.

The Early Years Learning Framework, Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners.

A number of our students entered the Original Poem section of the only event of this year’s Burnie Eisteddfod.

The poems were judged by the Europa Poets Society.

They wish to pass on their congratulations to all the entries and to the teachers who helped their students to enter them in the Eisteddfod.

Congratulations to the following placegetters: Seth B, Nina, Eve A, Tobias J, Elohi C, Maitland S, Oliver D, Mia F, Ruby W and Bronte R.

They were delighted that such great poetry is happening within the schools.

The Burnie Eisteddfod hopes to display the winners at the Burnie Library.

National Tree Day is held annually, with the purpose of this day to enable students to connect with nature by planting native trees and shrubs to improve our natural environment. Trees are natural carbon sequesters – meaning they absorb and capture carbon from our atmosphere. The timber they produce is also an important, environmentally friendly building material because it stores carbon and is a renewable resource. So it's important we continue to plant trees and look after our natural environment.

This year our Sustainability Leaders decided that the bank on our school oval needed an improvement. We ordered 40 native shrubs and plants to enhance the look of the bank. Our four Grade 6 Sustainability Leaders (Charlotte W, Jack B, Ayden D & Rungsiman M) with the help of the Prep to Grade 5 in class Sustainability Leaders  planted these shrubs and plants on our bank. It will be interesting for these students to see the growth of these shrubs and plants over their years at Burnie Primary.

Although we do not have a set date for school photos for 2020 yet, we can assure you they will be done. Unfortunately, due to all the restrictions with Covid-19, we had to delay our school photos. We will let parents/carers know a date when it is set. Thank you for your patience with this.

Issue 5 booklets will be handed to each student with the closing date for orders being 10 August 2020

How do I Order?

We ask that you clearly label your child's uniform items (including hats). This enables us to return your child's items back to them if they are handed in to Lost & Found. Without a name on the items they all look the same and we are unable to locate the correct owner.

If you haven't labeled your child's uniform items we ask that you please do so, if you do not have a permanent marker at home you are more than welcome to bring the items to the office and we can label them for you.

Friday mornings 9.15-10.20am in the Music Room/JMC.

It was lovely to resume our Launch into Learning Tunes for Tots and Stay & Play session today! Thank you to the families who attended this morning, it was so great to see you.

If you would like to join us next Friday please ring the Burnie Primary School office on 6433 3655 to book. Bookings must be made by 4pm Thursdays and families will need to book in each week.

Due to physical distancing requirements numbers will be capped for sessions and only those participants who have booked in will be able to attend.

There will be a screening process to complete on arrival, which will include the following questions:

• Have you returned from overseas within the last 14 days?
• Have you or anyone in your household been asked to self-isolate or quarantine in the last 14 days?
• Do you have symptoms of an influenza-like illness including fever OR symptoms of acute respiratory infection? (e.g. shortness of breath, cough, sore throat)?
• Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 (either in the community or at work) OR with someone awaiting the results of Covid-19 testing within the past 14 days?

If you answer yes to any of the screening questions you will be unable to enter the school site. We ask that if you or your child are unwell that you please stay home.

All attendees will be required to follow hand hygiene procedures including washing hands on arrival (adults and children) and as required throughout the session.
