Thriving Connected School Community
Our school is unquestionably such a wonderful place to be because of all the extra and additional effort that our caring staff, families and community members do. I am reminded of this on a daily basis as I walk throughout our school. I would like to thank you all for making Burnie Primary School a supportive environment where our children feel safe and have many opportunities to thrive. This term, we continue to focus on our value of growth and continue to strive toward excellence in teaching and learning.
Lifting Off
Our Term 3 LIFT event was a HUGE success! We were truly impressed with the number of families who were able to join us for this special occasion. Our school was a hive of activity with a buzz of excitement from room to room. We recognise the importance of partnering with our families, and the rich follow-up conversations these opportunities promote. We had over 230 very important people attend! Thank you!

Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)s school does well and where it may improve. We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Burnie Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making. The survey is open from Monday 26 August 2024 until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes to complete. Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren). Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/KsEcVi6gmW

In 2A we have been learning about arrays. An array is an ordered arrangement of objects, numbers or pictures. Arrays can help children with multiplication and division. To demonstrate our learning we have built an Array City.
During book week, students from 2B dressed up as their favourite book characters. Students were able to share their experiences by writing a recount detailing their characters, expressing opinions and explaining their reasoning for their choice of character.

Last week 27 students from Grades 5 and 6 attended the BIG Science Fair at UTAS. These students had been working on their investigations for 7 weeks.
Investigations ranged from finding out "Does music effect memory?" to "Does eating junk food effect performance?" and "Which dance style increases your heart rate the most?"
The students represented Burnie Primary well and were all very proud of their efforts.
Congratulations to Charlotte, Serenity and Navika who have been invited to the awards night to recognise their science investigation efforts!

The P&F have had a long-standing fundraising campaign with the Entertainment Book. For 27 years, Entertainment has created a local community with its membership program by bringing together members, fundraisers and merchants that no one else can. Fundraising is at the heart of who they are, and they love the opportunity to help their fundraising partners make a difference. Their merchants offer incredible offers and experiences, and their members embrace the opportunity to get great offers. Up to 20% of a membership sale can be allocated to us, Burnie Primary School, it just needs to be selected during the purchase process. Entertainment is currently running an amazing offer, well worth a look. You can follow the link here, or Google Entertainment Book.
