Unleash your inner Bookworm – Welcome to the Premiers Reading Challenge
Reading with children is one of the most enjoyable things a parent, grandparent or carer can do, and as a bonus it helps their language development. This year, we are excited to announce that our whole school will participate in the 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge (our teachers are also getting involved)!
The Premier’s Challenge is not a competition, but a way to encourage a love of reading for life. No matter what we aspire to do or be, reading and literacy skills will help you get there.
We are encouraging all students from Kinder to Year 6 to take part, no matter your reading level. Whether you’re a bookworm or just starting your reading journey, this challenge is for you!
It’s not about how many books you read, but about the joy and excitement of exploring new stories, characters, and ideas.
And for families – you can help your child get involved in the challenge by reading with them, talking to them about what they are reading and providing lots of encouragement!
Stay tuned for some incentives along the way. We will be awarding book vouchers, looking for reading champions and year level award recipients. To provide our readers with more opportunities to achieve their personal reading goal, we will open our library before school on Tuesday mornings and provide an extra library session on THURSDAY over the recess break. Reading logs were sent home at the beginning of this week. So, it is time to put on your comfy socks, grab a cup of something warm and get lost in the magical world of reading with your loved ones.
Happy Reading!
